Jessica B.
Over the past 25+ years, I have cared for children in church nurseries, a daycare, and in over 50 families’ homes as a babysitter and nanny. I have experience caring for children of all ages, including multiples and children with special needs. Childcare is my passion, and I consider it a true privilege to be able to positively impact the lives of the children I work with and their families.

November 2022 to January 2023: In this part-time position I cared for Nyra, a four-month-old girl. I was responsible for all aspects of Nyra’s care, which included changing, bathing, and feeding her, doing her laundry, sanitizing her bottles, and making her baby food. Nyra has torticollis and started to wear a helmet shortly after I started caring for her, so I also participated in her physical therapy. This included lots of tummy time, doing neck massages prescribed by her physical therapist once daily, and making sure that she was spending as little time on her back as possible. Nyra’s parents are from India and speak Gujarati, so I went over a list of Gujarati words with her daily and would speak and sing to her in French for a portion of the day. My daily routine with Nyra included lots of play, sensory activities, reading, and some time outside in the fresh air whenever the weather was good.
October 2022 to January 2023: In this part-time position I cared for Jordana, a three-year-old girl. Jordana was not yet potty trained when I started, so I changed her diapers, fed her snacks and lunch, and made sure that the areas that we played in stayed nice and tidy. Jordana is a very high-energy child, so we spent as much time as possible playing outside in her backyard, going for walks, and drawing chalk pictures in the driveway. When we were inside we would read, play doctor and hide-and-seek, paint, build with Duplos (Legos for preschoolers), and play with her dollhouse and her many toy cars, which she loved to roll down the slide in her playroom.
April 2021 to December 2022: In this full-time position I cared for Ada, a 4-month-old girl. I was responsible for all aspects of her care, including changing her diapers and bathing her, feeding her, and doing her laundry. Ada had acid reflux, so she needed to be fed and then held for at least twenty minutes before she could be laid down for a nap. I normally took Ada for at least a half-hour walk every day, which started with me just pushing her in the stroller when she was little and ended with me taking her to swing at the local park whenever it wasn’t raining. My time with Ada included lots of reading and singing (in English and in French), working on her fine and gross motor skills through play, and doing baby sign language and lots of sensory activities. I also helped Ada’s parents with her sleep training.
June 2018 to August 2018: This family has five children that I cared for full-time over the summer: Lillian (11), Sebastian (11), Mariah (9), and twins Christina and Nicole (6). All the children except for Lillian have special needs (autism [non-verbal], cerebral palsy, ADHD, and emotional/behavioral disorders). In addition to caring for the children, I also helped as much as possible with dishes, laundry, and keeping the house tidy. The children had therapy at home almost every day, so we typically played in or around the house, but I also took them on excursions to local parks to play and have picnics.
January 2016 to August 2017: In this full-time position I cared for a two-and-a-half-year-old boy, Miles, and his twin sisters, Stella and Elena, who were almost six months old when I started. I was responsible for all aspects of their care and their laundry. I worked every day on the development and reinforcement of their verbal and motor skills (which included teaching them simple Spanish words and phrases), and potty-trained Miles. Our days were spent doing special arts and crafts projects, playing in their backyard, and taking walks in the neighborhood with their little dog, Fleury.
August 2009 to January 2016: In this part-time position, I cared for Romeo (3) and Adolfo (6). I made meals and snacks for the boys and transported them to and from school, summer camp, playdates, baseball games, karate lessons, and other activities. I also planned playdates and was responsible for registering the boys for camps and activities that they were involved in. I assisted the boys’ mother with birthday and Christmas party preparation and supervision and with making travel arrangements. I also traveled with them multiple times to Miami as a vacation nanny and tutored Romeo in reading. During the summer we would go to their community pool almost every day or play in their yard or clubhouse. When it was rainy we would play inside of their large home or go to the movies or Children’s Museum.
About me: I am American and was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. As the second oldest of seven children and the oldest girl, I learned how to care for children at a very early age. I was mature and responsible enough at age 11 to begin caring for children outside of my family and had the flexibility to do so because I was homeschooled, which is how I started working in childcare. I love interacting with people from other cultures, which is what motivated me to study languages in Pittsburgh and then here in Paris. In my spare time I work as a freelance translator and enjoy reading, drawing, cooking, trying new foods, and exploring my surroundings by taking long walks.
